Extron tech amps up 210 US university rooms with style.

Article Summary

TLDR:

  • Extron technology deployed in 210 rooms at Utah Tech University including a new Science, Engineering, and Technology building.
  • AV systems based on Extron technology were installed in 175 rooms across 31 buildings at the university.

In an effort to standardize audio-visual technology across its campus, Utah Tech University has deployed Extron technology in 210 rooms, including a new Science, Engineering, and Technology (SET) building. The installation included AV switching, distribution, control, and audio amplification equipment in 35 classrooms, labs, lecture halls, and conference rooms in the SET building. Additionally, 175 rooms across 31 buildings were retrofitted with Extron systems as part of an extensive AV standardization initiative.

Key elements of the AV systems in the new SET building included single-screen classrooms, large lecture halls with multiple screens, and anatomy labs with dissection tables equipped with cameras and displays for group viewing. The standard classrooms featured AV systems with a DTP CrossPoint 4K Scaling Presentation Matrix Switcher, while larger spaces had multiple projectors and flat-panel displays. Wireless mics, directional mic arrays, and amplification systems were also integrated into the AV setups.

The initiative focused on providing a consistent AV experience for instructors teaching in multiple classrooms throughout the day. By leveraging Extron’s AV system control and remote support models, the university was able to streamline design, configuration, and management of complex AV rooms. The new systems have reduced support call volumes significantly, from dozens of calls per week to five or fewer.
